Several events in the Nelson area have been postponed or canceled until further notice.

Events canceled this weekend include the Diamond School Festival, the second year in a row that Cowade has closed the popular festival. The under-hood BBQ master class has also been canceled on Saturday.

Nelson Market, and Monte’s Sunday Market have been canceled due to alert level restrictions. Markets last year. Canceled indefinitely. All meetings with more than 500 people will be canceled as per government directives.

Les Edwards, a spokesman for Tasman Rugby, said New Zealand Rugby had decided to cancel rugby at all levels this weekend. Therefore, the Tasman Mako Double Header Games at Trafalgar Park have been canceled this Sunday.

Seafood New Zealand’s National Industry Conference at the Richard Ford Hotel on Thursday and Friday has been canceled. They are currently considering options to move on to a later date.

Nelson College headmaster Richard Dykes said all students have to stay home until they finish level 4. He hopes the students will return to school next week, but as they prepare for the possibility of an extended lockdown, staff are ready to teach online on Monday.

All Nelson College events have been postponed this week, including the first XV rugby game this week. All Borders must return home, and all NCEA assessments have been postponed indefinitely.

The Rainbow Ski Area said it was unable to open due to Alert Level 4.

Troy Kingi and Delaney Davidson were scheduled to perform at Theater Royal on Tuesday night, but it was postponed.

Theater Royal said the re-scheduled show date will be announced when New Zealand returns to Alert Level 1, and all previously purchased tickets will be valid for the re-scheduled show.
