Hawke’s Bay police arrested a 34-year-old man on Sunday in connection with an alleged robbery outside Pakin Sio Tamtia.
The man allegedly approached a man in his car, presented him with a hammer and demanded that he get out of the car.
He pulled her out of the driver’s seat and threatened her when a security guard tried to intervene.
But the man was unable to get the vehicle into gear, so police fled on foot before reaching the scene.
