On Wednesday afternoon, a private contractor accidentally hit a waterman in Eshhurst.

Ashhurst’s water supply was temporarily cut off by a contractor after the accident.

According to the Palmerston North City Council’s Facebook page, the town of Manawati ran out of water around 5:55 p.m. Wednesday and was scheduled to arrive around 7:15 p.m.

A Facebook post states, “Waterman was mistakenly attacked by a private contractor.

“Our water team considered all the options not to cut water during repairs, but unfortunately this is not possible.

“We are hoping that the water will return between 6-7 pm. We know this is not the ideal time, but please assure our team to restore your water as soon as possible. Is working

After the repairs were completed, council staff were flushing the pipes to reduce the risk of any water leaks.

If the water turns colored, the council recommends that people turn on the outside cold tap until it is clean.
