Fletcher Building says it has stopped making bets under Alert Level 4, and even Auckland has only “extremely limited” stock.
“We can confirm that stock levels outside Auckland are completely depleted,” a spokesman said.
“We are following Level 4 lockdown rules for which we have to stop manufacturing – which means we have only very limited stock left in Auckland’s manufacturing and distribution facility.”
It will only take 24 hours to resume production, as the Auckland site “can work with a skeleton team following public health regulations”.
The company said it was not true that once production resumed, supply to the Auckland market would take precedence over other locations.
Many construction suppliers have sought permission to resume operations, but the Ministry of Health has not given any waiver in manufacturing under Level 4.
