Rangi Matamuwa will head Te Pūtahi-a-Toi at Macy’s University.

One of New Zealand’s Maori scholars has secured a new position at Macy’s University.

Rangi will move to Palmerston North for appointment as a professor of Maturanga Maori at the Matamoa University School of Maori Knowledge, Ti Patahi Toi.

The university said in a statement that Maori scientists, astronomers and navigation experts will lead the graduate school program in Ti Patahi Toi.

Margaret Foster, Acting Head of the School, said: “This will help us meet the growing demand for Mوریori students so that they can write in T-Rio M ماori and projects related to Mورtori Mوریori at the master’s and PhD level. I’m in.”

Matamoa has won several international awards, is the recipient of the Prime Minister’s Science Prize, and is a Fellow of the Operating, Royal Society.
