Police have confirmed that a man was killed on the spot in an accident on Shelly Bay Road on Wednesday night (file photo).
One person was killed Wednesday night in an accident off the coast of Wellington.
A man died on the spot after hitting rocks off the road at Shelley BRD around 9.50pm, police said.
Two people were also taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Equipment Suppose all three were teenagers.
Shania Makareni from the group Mao Zedong, which occupies former Defense Forces land on Shelly Bay, said members of the occupation had gone to help, but emergency services were already in place.
“Our thoughts are with the families.”
The crash happened just south of the site.
“They could hear screams from the guard house. [at the southern end of the occupation],” she said.
McCarney said the victims were not part of his group.
The road remained closed overnight as a serious police crash unit inspected the scene and said the cause would be determined after an investigation.
