Scientists have discovered how to make a dirt-free cup of tea.

They got film shapes when compounds in tea leaves, called polyphenols, bind to calcium carbonate in tap water.

The higher the amount of minerals such as calcium and magnesium in the water, the more likely and thicker the layer of dirt.

So the first thing you can do, especially if you live in a hard water area, is to use soft or filtered water to make your tea.

“If you make a cup of tea in pure water, it will not make a film at all, but the tea will taste very bitter,” he wrote.
