A man and his three young children are missing after his car was found on a remote shore off the west coast of Waiko.

The group was last seen on Saturday near Marocopa, a coastal town west of Kuwait.

Waikato police have launched a search and rescue operation to find the 37-year-old Atohanga man and his three young children.

In a statement Tuesday morning, Senior Detective Sergeant Ross Petersen said the man’s car was found on the shores of Caritas on Saturday.

The search for the coastal area will continue on Tuesday and house-to-house searches will be carried out in Marocopa and Caritas.

“At this stage, family safety is our primary concern and that’s why search and rescue has been activated,” Peterson said.
